[2009-01-16 09:38:55] moovida: ok guys, I marked everything related to bugs that was on the wiki page
[2009-01-16 09:39:06] moovida: there are some parts about documentation
[2009-01-16 09:39:13] moovida: and some feature requests
[2009-01-16 09:39:24] moovida: but we leave them in case for later
[2009-01-16 09:39:34] moovida: everything is red/orange now
[2009-01-16 09:39:42] tupi: I've got a postgis, but cannot load with trunk. I'm trying with the M1.
[2009-01-16 09:39:57] tupi: i can work with the db wizard, if you want me to do it.
[2009-01-16 09:40:02] moovida: when a bug get fixed, please select it green, so everyone will notice and testers will test and all will be happy
[2009-01-16 09:40:10] tupi: Also, WMS is also something I can look into
[2009-01-16 09:40:15] moovida: exactly
[2009-01-16 09:40:22] moovida: Jesse is working on postgis
[2009-01-16 09:40:31] moovida: it would be great if you could do WMS
[2009-01-16 09:42:04] moovida: is that ok for you?
[2009-01-16 09:43:15] tupi: it's ok, but I need to know what ot fix.
[2009-01-16 09:43:18] mauricio: ok, aritz and I are working with the first "editing problems"
[2009-01-16 09:43:49] moovida: tupi: what do you mean?

[2009-01-16 09:44:26] moovida: with bugs, descriptions, reporters
[2009-01-16 09:44:35] moovida: and who is working on what
[2009-01-16 09:44:40] moovida: so we do not overlap
[2009-01-16 09:45:03] moovida: also please reporters, could you have a look at the table and define which was reported by you
[2009-01-16 09:45:14] moovida: the developers could need to ask you explenations
[2009-01-16 09:46:14] Jesse_Eichar: what are you guys developing against the SDK or trunk?
[2009-01-16 09:46:27] moovida: I am against trunk
[2009-01-16 09:46:46] moovida: should we better do SDK?
[2009-01-16 09:46:51] tupi: trunk
[2009-01-16 09:46:52] Jesse_Eichar: I am doing trunk too

[2009-01-16 09:47:01] Jesse_Eichar: but I found that the Manifest on libs is wrong for me again.
[2009-01-16 09:47:11] Jesse_Eichar: Seems everytime I check out I have to mess with it
[2009-01-16 09:47:15] Jesse_Eichar: is that the same for you?
[2009-01-16 09:47:15] moovida: same for me
[2009-01-16 09:47:18] tupi: exactly what?
[2009-01-16 09:47:19] Jesse_Eichar: ok
[2009-01-16 09:47:20] moovida: I was wondering
[2009-01-16 09:47:29] tupi: the net.refractions package?
[2009-01-16 09:47:31] Jesse_Eichar: net

[2009-01-16 09:47:52] Jesse_Eichar: but only net.refractions.libs.internal has any contentes
[2009-01-16 09:47:59] Jesse_Eichar: so I always have to delete those
[2009-01-16 09:48:05] tupi: yep, but I've said this before on the list. never know if this was a problem or it was only me.
[2009-01-16 09:48:20] moovida: I was wondering if this is always generated?
[2009-01-16 09:48:23] Jesse_Eichar: I use 2.4.1
[2009-01-16 09:48:30] Jesse_Eichar: 3.4.1
[2009-01-16 09:48:31] moovida: or is it just that noone removes and commits?
[2009-01-16 09:48:39] Jesse_Eichar: I wonder if 3.4.0 adds them
[2009-01-16 09:48:53] moovida: no idea

[2009-01-16 09:51:20] moovida: and they just copy that plugin in their working udig
[2009-01-16 09:51:21] Jesse_Eichar: I think that is the quickest

[2009-01-16 10:03:43] Jesse_Eichar: looks like the non-experimental from report
[2009-01-16 10:03:54] silli: yes
[2009-01-16 10:04:07] silli: when I didn,t write anything
[2009-01-16 10:04:19] silli: it was the standard, else I wrote experimental
[2009-01-16 10:04:26] Jesse_Eichar: I am going to work on experimental is that ok if I just try to beat that up?
[2009-01-16 10:04:31] tupi: on win xp I cannot reproduce the legend problem. (I'm getting the caps and having a look.) Silli, have you tried on linux?
[2009-01-16 10:04:35] Jesse_Eichar: I want to kill the ld one
[2009-01-16 10:05:08] silli: no, I just tried on mac, I will do some testing also this morning on linux
[2009-01-16 10:06:30] silli: Jesse_Eichar: "I want to kill the Id one", what do you mean?

[2009-01-16 10:25:29] tupi: Layer icon problem has 2 issues: dm solutions caps delivers for example &request=GetLegendGraphic, but it only works with &REQUEST=GetlegendGraphic (not a prob for udig, however)
[2009-01-16 10:26:23] tupi: second problem: udig layerlist is not honouring LegendURL width="18" height="12": from the caps.
[2009-01-16 10:26:59] tupi: jesse, is this in LayersView?
[2009-01-16 10:27:08] Jesse_Eichar: hmm
[2009-01-16 10:27:15] Jesse_Eichar: no
[2009-01-16 10:27:34] tupi: any hints?
[2009-01-16 10:27:36] Jesse_Eichar: Layers view is data agnostic (it doesn't know anything about data)
[2009-01-16 10:27:44] Jesse_Eichar: Most likely it is in the IGeoResourceInfo
[2009-01-16 10:27:57] Jesse_Eichar: But also maybe in CatalogUIPlugin since there are a number of utilities there
[2009-01-16 10:28:46] Jesse_Eichar: Yeah look at getIcon in WMSGeoResourceImpl
[2009-01-16 10:28:51] tupi: ok, will have a look. it might be a problem with the label renderer

[2009-01-16 10:57:40] moovida: About the create feature dialog
[2009-01-16 10:57:46] moovida: there is a probelm
[2009-01-16 10:58:03] moovida: when the modify method of the CellModifier is called
[2009-01-16 10:58:17] moovida: to populate the table with the new chosen thing
[2009-01-16 10:58:29] moovida: (whatever, let's say type of attribute)
[2009-01-16 10:58:44] moovida: in the modify the SimpleFeatureType featureType = builder.buildFeatureType();
[2009-01-16 10:58:46] moovida: is called
[2009-01-16 10:58:58] moovida: which returnes the default
[2009-01-16 10:59:07] moovida: the javadoc states:
[2009-01-16 10:59:24] moovida: "After the type is built the running list of attributes is cleared. "
[2009-01-16 10:59:51] moovida: so at every modify we have an unusable builder
[2009-01-16 11:00:22] moovida: I guess the whole thing should be based on FeatureType
[2009-01-16 11:00:35] moovida: and at avery need the builder is constructed again
[2009-01-16 11:00:41] moovida: what do you think?
[2009-01-16 11:03:55] moovida: Jesse_Eichar?
[2009-01-16 11:04:06] Jesse_Eichar: sorry
[2009-01-16 11:04:09] Jesse_Eichar: let me read
[2009-01-16 11:04:12] moovida: np
[2009-01-16 11:04:50] Jesse_Eichar: Bummer the behavior of the builder was changed...
[2009-01-16 11:04:59] Jesse_Eichar: ok I guess you have to base on FeatureType
[2009-01-16 11:05:07] moovida: ok, think also
[2009-01-16 11:05:11] Jesse_Eichar: and I think you can populate a Builder with a featuretyep
[2009-01-16 11:05:14] moovida: then I go for that
[2009-01-16 11:05:16] Jesse_Eichar: so you can modify the featuretype
[2009-01-16 11:05:24] moovida: yes, with the descriptors, should be fine
[2009-01-16 11:06:01] moovida: good
[2009-01-16 11:07:42] tupi: sorry the delay... WMSGeoResourceImpl has lots of hardcoded widht and heights (16x16).
[2009-01-16 11:08:15] tupi: changing the values doesn't really help, because the layersview (or its renderer) cannot accept larges images.
[2009-01-16 11:09:05] tupi: Jesse, who is responsible for the rendering (what in Swing iis a CellRenderer or the like)
[2009-01-16 11:11:38] tupi: ping?
[2009-01-16 11:11:45] Jesse_Eichar: hi
[2009-01-16 11:11:47] Jesse_Eichar: reading the message
[2009-01-16 11:12:17] Jesse_Eichar: rendering the icon?
[2009-01-16 11:12:47] tupi: yeah
[2009-01-16 11:13:28] Jesse_Eichar: good question that...
[2009-01-16 11:13:38] Jesse_Eichar: I think for WMS it makes a request to the server
[2009-01-16 11:13:52] Jesse_Eichar: then if the image is too big tries to crop it down to 16x16
[2009-01-16 11:13:56] Jesse_Eichar: is that not what you are seeing?
[2009-01-16 11:15:29] tupi: yes, I get a cropped (to 16) image. on mac the rendering is wrong.
[2009-01-16 11:16:01] Jesse_Eichar: yeah that is right. I can't remember why. Is the image that is being obtained a good image or is it invalid
[2009-01-16 11:16:02] tupi: should this icon be shown full size?
[2009-01-16 11:16:14] Jesse_Eichar: on mac certain image formats don't work as well as on other platforms
[2009-01-16 11:17:16] tupi: it'sa good image. on mac i suppose it's ok, but somehow differently rendered (somewhat offset)
[2009-01-16 11:17:47] tupi: the problem with the wizard is similar (the next bug on my list)
[2009-01-16 11:19:07] Jesse_Eichar: hmmm
[2009-01-16 11:19:13] Jesse_Eichar: let me check see if I see anything
[2009-01-16 11:19:42] tupi: this is how the legend is supposed to look like
[2009-01-16 11:19:44] tupi: http://dev1.dmsolutions.ca/cgi-bin/mswms_gmap?VERSION=1.1.1&SERVICE=WMS&&REQUEST=GetLegendGraphic&LAYER=popplace&FORMAT=image/png&WIDTH=10&HEIGHT=10
[2009-01-16 11:20:15] Jesse_Eichar: I remember looking at this.
[2009-01-16 11:20:39] tupi: on mac it's like http://dev1.dmsolutions.ca/cgi-bin/mswms_gmap?VERSION=1.1.1&SERVICE=WMS&&REQUEST=GetLegendGraphic&LAYER=popplace&FORMAT=image/png&WIDTH=10&HEIGHT=10
[2009-01-16 11:21:23] Jesse_Eichar: what is the difference?
[2009-01-16 11:21:31] Jesse_Eichar: url looks the same
[2009-01-16 11:21:36] Jesse_Eichar: but I know what you mean
[2009-01-16 11:22:08] Jesse_Eichar: I remember looking at one point and thought that maybe the alpha expected by that code was wrong so it was detecting color at the wrong place
[2009-01-16 11:22:18] tupi: sorry, pasted the wrong url http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/download/attachments/8388625/wms_visualization.png?version=1
[2009-01-16 11:22:21] Jesse_Eichar: if you look at line 268
[2009-01-16 11:22:37] Jesse_Eichar: it is scanning the image for a place that will likely have the icon
[2009-01-16 11:22:41] Jesse_Eichar: (a place to start)
[2009-01-16 11:22:58] Jesse_Eichar: and it is finding the wrong place.
[2009-01-16 11:23:10] Jesse_Eichar: The values are different on a mac or something
[2009-01-16 11:24:09] Jesse_Eichar: does that make sense?
[2009-01-16 11:25:02] CIA-16: UDig: 03jeichar * r31052 10udig/plugins/net.refractions.udig.catalog.postgis/ (5 files in 3 dirs): fixed bug validating and added option to remove a configuration
[2009-01-16 11:25:41] tupi: no.
[2009-01-16 11:26:03] Jesse_Eichar: silli you have time to try to test the postgis plugin with the fixes Ive made
[2009-01-16 11:26:08] Jesse_Eichar: tupi :( sorry
[2009-01-16 11:26:28] Jesse_Eichar: do you see the section I am talking about in WMSGeoResourceInfoImpl?
[2009-01-16 11:26:47] tupi: anyway, I've hardcoded a diff value. the rendered now squeezes the icon into the same small space on the layerslist
[2009-01-16 11:27:01] Jesse_Eichar: ImageData contents = image.getImageData();
[2009-01-16 11:27:01] Jesse_Eichar: if (contents == null) {

[2009-01-16 11:27:02] Jesse_Eichar: }
[2009-01-16 11:27:03] Jesse_Eichar: if (contents.maskData != null) {
[2009-01-16 11:27:03] tupi: no problem. yep, I'm looking at the code
[2009-01-16 11:27:03] Jesse_Eichar: // ((width + 7) / 8 + (maskPad - 1)) / maskPad * maskPad
[2009-01-16 11:27:05] Jesse_Eichar: int maskPad = contents.maskPad;
[2009-01-16 11:27:07] Jesse_Eichar: int scanLine = ((contents.width + 7) / 8 + (maskPad - 1)) / maskPad * maskPad;
[2009-01-16 11:27:09] Jesse_Eichar: // skip leading mask ...
[2009-01-16 11:27:30] Jesse_Eichar: if contents.maskData != null then it tries to search for non-transparent section
[2009-01-16 11:27:47] Jesse_Eichar: and it will take a 16x16 patch
[2009-01-16 11:28:05] Jesse_Eichar: it chooses the patch based on where it finds non-transparent data
[2009-01-16 11:28:11] Jesse_Eichar: is it taking this branch?
[2009-01-16 11:28:31] moovida: Jesse_Eichar: Silli had to leave for 20 minutes, she will test as soon as she is back
[2009-01-16 11:28:40] Jesse_Eichar: ok
[2009-01-16 11:28:44] Jesse_Eichar: I will post the plugin
[2009-01-16 11:28:56] moovida: ok, how do you do that?
[2009-01-16 11:29:01] moovida: attach to the wiki?
[2009-01-16 11:29:14] Jesse_Eichar: tupi that section is what makes mapserver icons look good on windows and linux
[2009-01-16 11:29:33] Jesse_Eichar: moovida. Just a website somewhere
[2009-01-16 11:29:41] moovida: ok
[2009-01-16 11:30:27] tupi: ok, I'll dig through, but I believe the layerslist always shows a small icon.
[2009-01-16 11:30:48] Jesse_Eichar: it does. I agree with that
[2009-01-16 11:31:06] Jesse_Eichar: and that section chooses the small icon to show on windows. I am pretty sure that is what jody told me.
[2009-01-16 11:31:12] Jesse_Eichar: Been a few years now though
[2009-01-16 11:34:27] Jesse_Eichar: silli when you are back the postgis plugin is at: http://publicshare.dmz.lsn.camptocamp.com/udig-1.2-linux.gtk.x86_64.tar.gz
[2009-01-16 11:38:13] tupi: more facts: it's never contents.maskData != null , and the image is png.
[2009-01-16 11:38:43] tupi: perhaps i should ask wha'ts the desired behaviour when the image is larger than 16x16
[2009-01-16 11:39:04] tupi: the layers view won't render it larger, anyway
[2009-01-16 11:40:55] Jesse_Eichar: ok so that explains the problem on windows and linux maskData != null on that server
[2009-01-16 11:41:03] Jesse_Eichar: as for desired behaviour.....
[2009-01-16 11:41:12] Jesse_Eichar: good question
[2009-01-16 11:41:25] tupi: ask Silli what she thinks.
[2009-01-16 11:41:29] Jesse_Eichar: you are welcome to experiment.
[2009-01-16 11:41:33] Jesse_Eichar: on windows it finds the edge of the start
[2009-01-16 11:41:39] Jesse_Eichar: star
[2009-01-16 11:41:46] Jesse_Eichar: and take 16x16 from the edge
[2009-01-16 11:41:53] Jesse_Eichar: so the star is show and not the words
[2009-01-16 11:42:09] Jesse_Eichar: it looks good. could be hard to do one mac
[2009-01-16 11:42:26] tupi: yeah, on windows it looks as if it's all right, but t's not even showing the labels
[2009-01-16 11:42:40] Jesse_Eichar: perhaps you can do something similar but instead of using mask data take the 0,0 pixel and look for a pixel that is a different color
[2009-01-16 11:43:06] Jesse_Eichar: or perhaps take the 4 corners and assume the background color is the most common color of the 4
[2009-01-16 11:43:17] Jesse_Eichar: then use the same algorithm to determine the location of the icon
[2009-01-16 11:43:26] Jesse_Eichar: as is done with when there is a mask data
[2009-01-16 11:46:00] tupi: ok. sounds like a plan. I'll try something out.

[2009-01-16 12:47:52] moovida: later
[2009-01-16 12:48:44] tupi: yep. one problem is the icon on the layersview. what should be done with larger icons (that not fit the 16x16 dimensions).
[2009-01-16 12:48:51] tupi: perhaps you could suggest.
[2009-01-16 12:49:28] tupi: to the bug you reported: maximize map -:
maps doesn't render

[2009-01-16 12:49:57] aborruso: you are talking wiht me

[2009-01-16 12:50:08] aborruso: please wait

[2009-01-16 12:51:12] aborruso: you have seen the movie I have recorded?
[2009-01-16 12:52:25] tupi: yes. the point is: the map *does* render. i think you want render *and* maximize.

[2009-01-16 12:55:09] tupi: WMS, I read now. I confused with some other JPG.
[2009-01-16 12:55:21] aborruso: ok
[2009-01-16 12:55:43] aborruso: I have made the movie to explain better myself
[2009-01-16 12:55:49] aborruso: but probably
[2009-01-16 12:55:57] aborruso: I must add some notes
[2009-01-16 12:57:56] aborruso: In this movie yo can see also that the legend is not coherent with the map
[2009-01-16 12:58:27] Jesse_Eichar: tupi I think these two issues is more important than the layer's view icon
[2009-01-16 12:58:35] Jesse_Eichar: my opinion only
[2009-01-16 12:58:46] aborruso: also my

[2009-01-16 13:28:10] silli: Jesse_Eichar: with the other postgis I can connect without problems but I have some problems with rendering
[2009-01-16 13:29:06] Jesse_Eichar: rendering is probably a different issue from the wizard
[2009-01-16 13:29:38] Jesse_Eichar: I tested the refractions DB and it works with the wizard but the user feedback is bad when selecting layers so I will try to fix that.
[2009-01-16 13:29:40] silli: yes of course.
[2009-01-16 13:29:52] Jesse_Eichar: What data I haven't had problems rendering

[2009-01-16 13:35:27] Jesse_Eichar: ok fixed
[2009-01-16 13:37:42] silli: I think aborruso is at lunch
[2009-01-16 13:38:32] silli: tupi: can I help you
[2009-01-16 13:39:39] silli: Jesse_Eichar: if you prepare a new plugin I can test it
[2009-01-16 13:40:06] silli: and try to understand if there are rendering problems
[2009-01-16 13:40:49] Jesse_Eichar: I don't have a new plugin yet.
[2009-01-16 13:40:51] silli: an other thing, in the new postgis wizard there is a section "SQL", do some of you know how it works? it seems very interesting
[2009-01-16 13:40:54] Jesse_Eichar: I will let you know when I can
[2009-01-16 13:40:59] Jesse_Eichar: it is not ready
[2009-01-16 13:41:00] silli: ok thanks
[2009-01-16 13:41:09] Jesse_Eichar: It was something I was going to work on but never had time to finish
[2009-01-16 13:41:20] Jesse_Eichar: idea is to be able to do select and joins and visualize it
[2009-01-16 13:41:30] Jesse_Eichar: but will take a while before that is possible
[2009-01-16 13:41:33] silli: wow!!!

[2009-01-16 13:42:57] silli: yes!
[2009-01-16 13:43:18] tupi: can you try aborruso's proble (s. bugtable, 3 WMS bug)?

[2009-01-16 13:43:42] tupi: just load countries, then NASA's WMS Blue Marble Next Generation, Global MODIS derived image
[2009-01-16 13:44:16] silli: ok, I will try, just a moment
[2009-01-16 13:45:22] tupi: important is to maximize the map viewpart.
[2009-01-16 13:49:25] silli: ok
[2009-01-16 13:49:47] silli: if I have the two maps loaded and maximize the view
[2009-01-16 13:50:06] silli: nothing will be display, all desappears
[2009-01-16 13:50:25] tupi: even the shapefile?
[2009-01-16 13:51:17] silli: sorry, what shapefile?
[2009-01-16 13:52:40] silli: I loades Blue Marble Next Generation, Global MODIS derived image
[2009-01-16 13:52:42] Jesse_Eichar: ok got to try taking my car in to the shop again. They were closed before :(
[2009-01-16 13:53:02] silli: later Jesse_Eichar
[2009-01-16 13:53:16] tupi: well, according to the wlakthrough you (1) load a shapefile - countries.shp9 then you (2) load the MODIS.
[2009-01-16 13:53:21] silli: and Blue Marble, Global MODIS derived image
[2009-01-16 13:53:57] tupi: i don't think the problem has to do with th eshape, but with the WMs not refreshing after a maximize.
[2009-01-16 13:54:24] tupi: I can reproduce the problem, but some times if refreshes as it should.
[2009-01-16 13:54:47] silli: tupi: I tried displaying the country shapefile and the images
[2009-01-16 13:54:52] silli: and now it works
[2009-01-16 13:55:15] silli: the shapefile is displayed earlier but after some time come also the images
[2009-01-16 13:55:46] silli: but they are not fully maximize in the map windos
[2009-01-16 13:56:12] silli: it seems they have the same dimension as before but a little bit shifted
[2009-01-16 13:56:20] silli: try to do a refresh
[2009-01-16 13:56:26] tupi: same for me. but the problem andrea described is that the sahep came, but the wms didn't show.
[2009-01-16 13:57:31] silli: I tried just with one wms, just a moment and try with two
[2009-01-16 13:59:11] silli: I think it is just a net problem because if I wait all will be displayed
[2009-01-16 13:59:26] silli: I am working in linux now
[2009-01-16 13:59:30] silli: and you?
[2009-01-16 14:11:57] silli: Jesse_Eichar: I found the problem, if I import a postgis in the Catalog and don't select a special layer it is not possible to go on Next or Finish. Selecting one or more layers all is ok and the postgis connection is added to the Catalog
[2009-01-16 14:12:19] aborruso: here I'm
[2009-01-16 14:12:43] tupi: (delay to get coffee...) I'm on win xp

[2009-01-16 14:19:42] moovida: mauricio & aritz: how is the editing stuff going?
[2009-01-16 14:19:59] silli: aborruso: no, I tried visualizing the blue marble and the country shapefile
[2009-01-16 14:20:05] mauricio: well
[2009-01-16 14:20:20] silli: and if I maximize everything works

[2009-01-16 14:20:33] mauricio: we found a problem between TableView and SelectionToo
[2009-01-16 14:20:35] mauricio: l
[2009-01-16 14:20:56] tupi: yes. the problem is reproducible...but not always.
[2009-01-16 14:21:00] mauricio: Now it save the modified filter

[2009-01-16 14:21:58] tupi: i think it's related to the viewpart (whether it has been resized or not)
[2009-01-16 14:22:31] aborruso: do you have seen the also the legend problem?
[2009-01-16 14:22:36] tupi: silli, aborruso: please try this. maximize the window, then resize it so as to chnage the mapview dimension
[2009-01-16 14:23:24] aborruso: it's ok
[2009-01-16 14:23:27] tupi: what legend problem? I'm using the bugslist as a reference
[2009-01-16 14:23:39] aborruso: me too
[2009-01-16 14:23:41] aborruso: wait
[2009-01-16 14:25:40] aborruso: in the movie I have recorded
[2009-01-16 14:25:43] aborruso: related
[2009-01-16 14:25:49] aborruso: to this wms problem
[2009-01-16 14:25:54] aborruso: you can see
[2009-01-16 14:26:00] aborruso: that the legend
[2009-01-16 14:26:04] aborruso: is not coherent
[2009-01-16 14:26:12] aborruso: with the related shapefile

[2009-01-16 14:51:39] moovida: noooo, that is too dark
[2009-01-16 14:51:44] moovida: seems to be wrong
[2009-01-16 14:51:54] moovida: :D

[2009-01-16 14:55:14] silli: in my honest opinion icons are important

[2009-01-16 14:55:55] moovida: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
[2009-01-16 14:55:58] silli: wait wait
[2009-01-16 14:55:58] moovida: ups sorry
[2009-01-16 14:56:01] moovida: :D
[2009-01-16 14:56:12] tupi: the issue is important, but I'd like some more time.
[2009-01-16 14:56:33] silli: I can not see what kind of layer I am trying to visualize
[2009-01-16 14:56:38] tupi: The problem seems to be conceptual. waht to do when the legend is large than 16x16 px?
[2009-01-16 14:57:16] moovida: tupi: can't you scale keeping the ratio?
[2009-01-16 14:57:22] moovida: and padding with white?
[2009-01-16 14:57:26] moovida: to be 16x16
[2009-01-16 14:57:35] moovida: because th eglyphs are stick to 16
[2009-01-16 14:57:49] moovida: I once tried to chenge them, but it is too hard
[2009-01-16 14:58:12] moovida: so I think the only way would be to adapt what comes in
[2009-01-16 14:58:15] tupi: Oh, it's hard so you want me to do it? ;-)
[2009-01-16 14:58:35] moovida: no, only if you want to be 0:2 for Brazil :D
[2009-01-16 14:58:38] aborruso: tupi I have a problem related in some way to
[2009-01-16 14:58:40] aborruso: wms one
[2009-01-16 14:58:46] moovida: no, honestly I would not do it
[2009-01-16 14:58:58] moovida: can't you just adapt the images to the icon size?
[2009-01-16 14:59:01] tupi: I think the layer list (and the wizards) don't have space to fit anything larger than 16x16
[2009-01-16 14:59:09] moovida: exactly
[2009-01-16 14:59:19] moovida: but you could scale the incoming image?
[2009-01-16 14:59:21] moovida: or not/
[2009-01-16 14:59:24] moovida: ?
[2009-01-16 14:59:26] tupi: I think so
[2009-01-16 14:59:57] moovida: If you keep the ratio and dap to get the square, I imagine that could be ok?
[2009-01-16 15:00:10] moovida: dap == adapt
[2009-01-16 15:00:19] moovida: no sorry
[2009-01-16 15:00:22] moovida: dap == pad
[2009-01-16 15:00:28] tupi: but it'll look ugly
[2009-01-16 15:01:12] moovida: what are the sizes that come int?
[2009-01-16 15:01:27] tupi: the dm solutions has 12 x 18
[2009-01-16 15:01:27] moovida: big or just some pixels away?
[2009-01-16 15:01:52] moovida: how can I see one?
[2009-01-16 15:02:02] moovida: which url?
[2009-01-16 15:02:31] moovida: I'm dragging the one from the web catalog
[2009-01-16 15:04:48] moovida: the wms of dmsolutions doesn't work for me

[2009-01-16 15:05:19] moovida: ah, but I see the icons
[2009-01-16 15:05:39] moovida: don't you think that scaling from 18 to 16
[2009-01-16 15:05:54] moovida: and padding from 12 to 16 would look fairly good?
[2009-01-16 15:12:00] tupi: here's the legend > http://dev1.dmsolutions.ca/cgi-bin/mswms_gmap?VERSION=1.1.1&SERVICE=WMS&&REQUEST=GetLegendGraphic&LAYER=popplace&FORMAT=image/png

[2009-01-16 15:14:13] Jesse_Eichar: any time andrea
[2009-01-16 15:14:27] moovida: avc_afk: why do you say polar coordinates?
[2009-01-16 15:14:58] moovida: Jesse_Eichar: in BadRenderMetricsFactory
[2009-01-16 15:15:15] moovida: in createMetrics I find
[2009-01-16 15:15:16] moovida: resolve = context.getGeoResource().resolve(String.class, new NullProgressMonitor());
[2009-01-16 15:15:52] moovida: but that never resolves to String, and I get exceptions when I load the new created scratch layer
[2009-01-16 15:16:02] tupi: acuster: does a north arrow make sense for polar coords?
[2009-01-16 15:16:10] avc_afk: not polar 'coordinates', a polar projection (where north can be in the middle)
[2009-01-16 15:16:13] =-= avc_afk is now known as acuster
[2009-01-16 15:16:19] Jesse_Eichar: hmmm
[2009-01-16 15:16:21] Jesse_Eichar: what line
[2009-01-16 15:16:30] moovida: line 77
[2009-01-16 15:16:48] moovida: resolve is always null
[2009-01-16 15:16:55] moovida: and the runtime is thrown
[2009-01-16 15:17:14] Jesse_Eichar: Umm that is only for testing moovida
[2009-01-16 15:17:19] Jesse_Eichar: it is not part of uDig
[2009-01-16 15:17:35] moovida: acuster: but udig is supposed to have north in the middle looking up
[2009-01-16 15:17:47] moovida: Jesse_Eichar: ahhh, that is why it worked well anyway
[2009-01-16 15:18:00] moovida: ho wcan I get rid of it?
[2009-01-16 15:18:14] Jesse_Eichar: in your run configuration remove that plugin
[2009-01-16 15:18:20] Jesse_Eichar: probably udig.project
[2009-01-16 15:18:27] Jesse_Eichar: sorry udig.project.test
[2009-01-16 15:19:08] moovida: ahhh, didn't notice it is a test
[2009-01-16 15:19:39] moovida: well, then now I should have the plugins ready to test new layer creation and save
[2009-01-16 15:22:09] moovida: hmmm, not yet, more problems
[2009-01-16 15:22:11] moovida: :(

[2009-01-16 15:25:34] silli: moovida: I will test it if you send it to me
[2009-01-16 15:26:34] moovida: acuster: not sure what you are trying to say
[2009-01-16 15:26:50] moovida: silli: I found a new issue
[2009-01-16 15:26:51] tupi: so, to confirm: the fix doesn't work for polar stereographic
[2009-01-16 15:28:07] tupi: ...but it does fix the reported bug. Can leave an issue, and i can review it, sometime...Is that OK?
[2009-01-16 15:28:36] moovida: we'll have to ask Jody
[2009-01-16 15:28:38] moovida: yes
[2009-01-16 15:28:41] moovida: ok for me

[2009-01-16 15:29:33] silli: I think polar stereographic has the north in the center of the "projection"
[2009-01-16 15:30:13] silli: so it should be possible to rotate the North Arrow
[2009-01-16 15:30:53] tupi: sure it is. but I need to figure out the maths.
[2009-01-16 15:31:59] silli: ok agree, probably acuster have some idea or links?
[2009-01-16 15:32:16] silli: we could try to understand how to do that rotation
[2009-01-16 15:32:16] moovida: I am pretty sure that the north arrow started as an exercise
[2009-01-16 15:32:31] moovida: rotation could be easy to do
[2009-01-16 15:32:49] moovida: just take two points from the viewport
[2009-01-16 15:32:57] moovida: then put them to world
[2009-01-16 15:33:00] silli: Thinking that north is in the centre of the projection for polar stereographic
[2009-01-16 15:33:02] moovida: then reproject
[2009-01-16 15:33:10] acuster: jody's algorithm
[2009-01-16 15:33:13] moovida: and go back to the pixel
[2009-01-16 15:33:25] acuster: start with the point where you want the north arrow (in screen space)
[2009-01-16 15:33:27] moovida: and you should have the axis along which the arrow should go
[2009-01-16 15:33:31] acuster: transform to geographic space
[2009-01-16 15:33:49] acuster: increment lat by a small amount,
[2009-01-16 15:33:53] acuster: find point in geographic space,
[2009-01-16 15:34:01] acuster: transform back to screen space
[2009-01-16 15:34:16] acuster: -:
you now have a screen space vector
[2009-01-16 15:36:05] silli: Jesse_Eichar: I added a new line for Postgis bugs in the bugs table
[2009-01-16 15:36:27] Jesse_Eichar: okey dokey

[2009-01-16 15:37:21] silli: did you recieved my email with the other problem? since it happens only in our postgis I don't know if it is a uDig bug or not
[2009-01-16 15:37:41] Jesse_Eichar: hmm nope
[2009-01-16 15:37:42] Jesse_Eichar: not yet
[2009-01-16 15:38:05] silli: Jesse_Eichar: firs this in the list of tables available in the postgis database
[2009-01-16 15:38:19] Jesse_Eichar: right
[2009-01-16 15:38:24] Jesse_Eichar: and it lists all tables?
[2009-01-16 15:38:25] silli: we have also not geometric tables
[2009-01-16 15:38:30] Jesse_Eichar: I see
[2009-01-16 15:38:39] silli: yes
[2009-01-16 15:38:46] Jesse_Eichar: so I need to read the geometry columns table and see what is available and list only those?
[2009-01-16 15:38:58] Jesse_Eichar: should work for now...
[2009-01-16 15:39:04] Jesse_Eichar: but not good in long run.
[2009-01-16 15:39:45] silli: I think you the options could be two
[2009-01-16 15:39:59] silli: 1. you add a new icon for non geometric tables
[2009-01-16 15:41:07] silli: 2. you filter those tables, they are really annoying because a user try to visualize them
[2009-01-16 15:41:14] silli: and have this problem
[2009-01-16 15:41:35] silli: "Coordiante Reference System of data is unknown. ..."
[2009-01-16 15:44:16] Jesse_Eichar: I am leaning towards 2 at least until we have the SQL tab working. At that point it might be nice to see all the tables.
[2009-01-16 15:45:39] tupi: silli: there are 2 styling bugs I cannot reproduce with trunk. I think they were due to simpleFeature.getname()
[2009-01-16 15:45:52] tupi: rather than simpleFeature.getLocalpart().
[2009-01-16 15:46:20] tupi: i submitted a patch a while ago that fixed that. so I think the problem is with M1.
[2009-01-16 15:47:09] moovida: plugins for create layer fix are here: http://www.hydrologis.com-a.googlepages.com/udigcodesprinttestplugins
[2009-01-16 15:47:15] moovida: if someone can test it
[2009-01-16 15:47:37] silli: Jesse_Eichar: perfect, with SQL maybe option one would be better, but we would change it
[2009-01-16 15:47:49] silli: if it is not too much work
[2009-01-16 15:48:17] Jesse_Eichar: Now I am going to filter them out that is easy
[2009-01-16 15:48:21] Jesse_Eichar: later we can change it back
[2009-01-16 15:48:23] Jesse_Eichar: that is also easy
[2009-01-16 15:48:38] Jesse_Eichar: I will look into adding icons any how to make it easier in future

[2009-01-16 16:52:27] moovida: I check it before in debug and it looks good

[2009-01-16 16:52:51] Jesse_Eichar: because why else would it be trying to write geometry to the DBF file
[2009-01-16 16:52:58] Jesse_Eichar: geometries shouldn't go there
[2009-01-16 16:53:01] moovida: yes, I agree

[2009-01-16 19:12:06] tupi: hi emily

[2009-01-16 19:13:02] emily_g: I guess then what is the procedure for "testing" ... how many people should test?
[2009-01-16 19:13:15] tupi: seems to be a renderer problem
[2009-01-16 19:13:48] tupi: test? everyone who can, should test

[2009-01-16 19:15:11] tupi: yep. load a shape, load the NASA WMS, and maximize the mapview
[2009-01-16 19:15:54] tupi: moovida: you got "export problem"?
[2009-01-16 19:16:35] moovida: no, I am still on shapefile export
[2009-01-16 19:18:02] tupi: silli wrote about a problematic CRS. Shall i try it?
[2009-01-16 19:18:40] moovida: yep, it's all yours
[2009-01-16 19:20:50] silli: tupi: I think there are no problem in fact
[2009-01-16 19:21:21] silli: just we realized that in linux and mac the projection of the countries shape is read as GCS_WGS_1984
[2009-01-16 19:21:29] silli: and in windos as WGS84(DD)
[2009-01-16 19:21:50] silli: but the definition is the same, same parameters and names

[2009-01-16 19:27:42] tupi: cheers

[2009-01-16 19:30:09] emily_g: I'll see what I can come up with
[2009-01-16 19:30:34] emily_g: I assume you are using the default udig rendering system and not the tiled rendering ?
[2009-01-16 19:31:04] tupi: Well, I wouldn't bother now. i tried this in the morning and I don't find a real problem.
[2009-01-16 19:31:29] tupi: I'm not using the tiled renderer.
[2009-01-16 19:31:47] emily_g: okay well I'll spend a bit of time and see if I can come up with anything; if not I'll move on

[2009-01-16 19:54:14] tupi: the thumbnails drawn on the legend are images.

[2009-01-16 19:54:42] moovida: now I remember
[2009-01-16 19:54:45] tupi: when i code to fill a rectanlge with the symbolizer color, i see the color ok.
[2009-01-16 19:54:47] moovida: the same glyphs
[2009-01-16 19:54:55] emily_g: not very
[2009-01-16 19:55:04] moovida: I hated them when I wanted to add the raster legend
[2009-01-16 19:55:04] emily_g: is there something you wanted me to look at
[2009-01-16 19:55:08] moovida: for JGrass
[2009-01-16 19:55:30] moovida: emily_g: in its getStartingPage method the getContainer gives null
[2009-01-16 19:55:52] moovida: which is why the export shapefile at the first NEXT gives an empty page
[2009-01-16 19:56:36] moovida: it seems to be a question of loading like that in order to not freeze the gui if much has to be done
[2009-01-16 19:56:45] moovida: but in fact the page stays empty
[2009-01-16 19:57:01] moovida: and if you go back and next once more, everything is ok
[2009-01-16 19:57:20] moovida: I am wondering where I can force the parent container to be set
[2009-01-16 19:57:53] tupi: see what you mean.
[2009-01-16 19:57:53] emily_g: that looks like fun! I'm sorry but I don't have any good ideas for you
[2009-01-16 19:58:32] moovida: :( it is Jesse's code
[2009-01-16 19:58:37] emily_g: have you tried looking at one of the other exports that works and seeing if there are any differences?
[2009-01-16 19:58:39] moovida: but he disappeared
[2009-01-16 19:59:40] moovida: all the import/export seem to suffer from this problem
[2009-01-16 19:59:59] moovida: for example import in the catalog view
[2009-01-16 20:00:10] moovida: I will search for one working :)
[2009-01-16 20:00:36] moovida: tupi: you are sure about the color thing?
[2009-01-16 20:01:00] moovida: it is transparent images over the white legend frame? something like that?
[2009-01-16 20:01:27] emily_g: well if I right click on a layer and select 'export' the 'Other'->'Map To Image' the first pages shows up for me right away
[2009-01-16 20:01:36] tupi: yes. if you set the transparency (in the theme page), then the colors are ok
[2009-01-16 20:02:25] moovida: emily_g: you are right, I wonder if it is a workflow wizard
[2009-01-16 20:02:29] silli: tupi: sorry the transparency of what?
[2009-01-16 20:02:38] moovida: but I have a starting point again :)
[2009-01-16 20:02:40] moovida: thanks
[2009-01-16 20:02:54] silli: the problem is that on my linux and mac I don't have problems, just windows
[2009-01-16 20:03:08] tupi: in the theme page, set the color transparency to 0%.
[2009-01-16 20:03:37] moovida: emily_g: it is not :) only the workflowWizards have issues
[2009-01-16 20:04:02] emily_g: hmm too bad :(
[2009-01-16 20:04:03] silli: opacity?
[2009-01-16 20:04:42] tupi: yes, sorry. opacity = 1 - transparency :-)

[2009-01-16 20:04:56] silli: tupi: if I set opacity = 0
[2009-01-16 20:05:06] silli: my map is completely white...
[2009-01-16 20:05:16] emily_g: tupi: I have an idea about your rendering problem; but it's not an easy fix. I think it's a race condition on the state of the renderer. I think if the state is being set to "render me" by one thread and then "done" by the other before it actually gets around to rendering it.
[2009-01-16 20:05:39] emily_g: I'm not sure of it but I recall a similar issue with the tiled renderer when I was working on that
[2009-01-16 20:06:15] tupi: arrrg! probably hell to sort it out.
[2009-01-16 20:06:18] silli: tupi: it makes me sense to have no colours if the opacity is zero
[2009-01-16 20:06:46] silli: and completely not transparent at all if it is 100%
[2009-01-16 20:07:09] tupi: on windows it looks horrible.
[2009-01-16 20:07:37] tupi: I'm drawing a little rectanlge near the glyph, and it looks much better.
[2009-01-16 20:08:03] silli: yes just on windows

[2009-01-16 21:07:24] moovida: a lot of those issues were solved with fix 28-29
[2009-01-16 21:07:30] moovida: perhaps that also
[2009-01-16 21:07:53] silli: yes it seems to work now, probably all was related to the bug Andrea fixed
[2009-01-16 21:08:00] tupi: OK.
[2009-01-16 21:08:51] silli: tupi: are you working on wms icons?
